Four fortunate expatriates, including three residing in the UAE, have triumphed in the Big Ticket’s ‘Big Win’ contest, collectively taking home Dh370,000.
Tapan Das, a barber, won Dh100,000 and now aims to launch his own business. The 30-year-old Bangladeshi, who has lived in the UAE for six years, purchased his Big Ticket entries alongside a group of 20 friends.
“It’s an amazing feeling. I immediately sent money back home to support my family. Now, I plan to start my own business soon. This win has opened the door for me to pursue my long-held dream,” said Das, who intends to keep buying Big Ticket entries.
“You should always try your luck. While purchasing a ticket doesn’t guarantee a win, it does provide an opportunity. Keep believing, and perhaps your time will come too,” he added.
In another win, Allwyn Michael, an Indian expatriate residing in Qatar, claimed Dh150,000 with his online ticket, number 073786, expressing his delight over the unexpected fortune.
Additionally, two Indian expats in Abu Dhabi each won Dh60,000. Sandeep Thazhayil, a 33-year-old project HSE Manager who has been in Abu Dhabi for a decade, shared his winnings with 15 friends and plans to use part of the funds to settle his debts.
“I’m using my share of the prize to bring my wife and daughter to the UAE, so we can enjoy our family life together. It’s wonderful to finally have them here after all these years. This win has given me the chance to enhance my family’s future,” Thazhayil remarked, noting that he intends to continue purchasing tickets monthly.
Sharafudheen Sharaf, a 36-year-old private driver from Kerala who has lived in Abu Dhabi for five years, will share his winning ticket with 15 others.
“I’m using my share of the prize to buy whatever my daughter wants. It feels incredible to provide for her. This win has inspired me to keep participating and remain optimistic about the future,” Sharaf stated, encouraging others with, “Don’t lose hope; one day it might be your turn.”
This February, one lucky ticket holder will win a grand prize of Dh20 million. In addition to the grand prize, two winners will have the chance to win Dh250,000 each week in e-draws. Tickets are available on the official website or at counters in Zayed International Airport and Al Ain Airport.
